Boat Bottom Cleaning at Your Dock

In South Florida’s warm salt water, a clean bottom doesn’t stay clean for long. Within weeks, slime turns into grass and barnacles, the boat gets slower, and fuel burn goes up.

We clean the bottom in the water, right where the boat is kept. There’s nothing to haul and nothing to schedule around, and a regular cleaning keeps your bottom paint working longer between haul-outs.

When You Call, the Owner Picks Up

Every call goes straight to Ethan, the owner of EG Marine Services and the mechanic who does the work. There’s no receptionist taking a message and no waiting on a callback from someone who’s never seen your boat.

Tell him what’s going on: the alarm on the display, the noise at idle, the engine that won’t turn over. Ethan knows Yamaha, Suzuki, Mercury, and the rest of what runs in South Florida inside and out, so you’ll usually get a straight answer on the first call, whether that’s something you can check yourself or a visit to your dock.

Boat Bottom & Hull Cleaning FAQs

How often should a boat bottom be cleaned in South Florida?

For a boat kept in the water, about once a month. Warm salt water grows slime, grass, and barnacles fast, and in summer some boats need it more often. A boat on a lift or in dry storage needs it much less.

Do you clean the bottom with the boat in the water?

Yes. Regular bottom cleaning is done in the water at your dock or slip, so there’s no haul-out. If the growth is heavy or the bottom paint is worn out, we’ll tell you, and a haul-out with a pressure wash or new bottom paint may make more sense.

Will cleaning damage my bottom paint?

Not when it’s done right. We match the method to the paint: soft tools for ablative paint, which is designed to wear slowly, and more aggressive tools only where hard paint and heavy growth call for it.

How much does boat bottom cleaning cost?

It’s usually priced by the boat’s length and how much growth there is. A boat on a regular schedule costs less per visit than one that’s gone months without cleaning. Call with the boat’s length and location for a quote.

Why does a dirty bottom matter?

Growth on the hull and running gear slows the boat, burns more fuel, and makes the engines work harder. Barnacles on the props and in the water intakes can also cause overheating and vibration.

Can bottom cleaning be part of a regular maintenance plan?

Yes. Most of our cleaning customers keep the boat on a recurring schedule, and we can combine bottom cleaning with washing, waxing, and engine service so everything stays on track.
