Mercury Outboard Repair at Your Dock
Mercury outboards power a big share of the boats in South Florida, from 150 FourStrokes to quad Verado and Mercury Racing setups. We repair and service them at private docks, marinas, and boat lifts from Boca Raton to Islamorada, so the boat doesn’t have to go to a shop.

When You Call, the Owner Picks Up
Every call goes straight to Ethan, the owner of EG Marine Services and the mechanic who does the work. There’s no receptionist taking a message and no waiting on a callback from someone who’s never seen your boat.
Tell him what’s going on: the alarm on the display, the noise at idle, the engine that won’t turn over. Ethan knows Yamaha, Suzuki, Mercury, and the rest of what runs in South Florida inside and out, so you’ll usually get a straight answer on the first call, whether that’s something you can check yourself or a visit to your dock.
- Straight answers, not a script
- Diagnostic questions answered on the phone
- Honest advice, even when the fix is simple
- The person you talk to is the one who shows up

The Verado is its own engine, with its own common problems. These are the ones we fix most:
Power steering
Heavy or seized steering usually means a failing power steering pump or a leaking steering cylinder. We replace pumps and reseal or replace cylinders, then bleed and test the system.
Trim seals and rams
A Verado that trims down on its own, or leaves fluid on the transom, needs new trim seals. We reseal trim rams and repair leaking ones.
Coils and misfires
A rough idle or misfire on a Verado is often a failed ignition coil. On one engine we found five bad coils out of six.
Fuel and charging
Fuel pump failures, fuel dumping into the engine, and charging problems from a bad isolator or alternator.

Mercury Outboard Repair & Service FAQs
My Mercury outboard won’t start. Can you fix it at the dock?
Usually, yes. Cranks-but-won’t-start and no-crank problems on Mercury outboards are mostly fuel, ignition, or starting circuit faults. Ethan diagnoses them with Mercury software at your dock.
Do you work on Mercury Verados?
Yes, a lot of them. Verado jobs are some of our most common: power steering pumps and cylinders, trim seal replacement, ignition coils, fuel pumps, thermostats, and alternators, plus 100 and 300 hour service on twin, triple, and quad setups.
Can you read Mercury fault codes at the dock?
Yes. We connect to the engine and read fault codes, engine hours, and live data, so repairs are based on what the engine is reporting instead of guesswork.
What are common Mercury Verado problems?
On older Verados we see failed ignition coils, leaking trim seals, power steering pump and cylinder failures, and charging problems such as a bad isolator. Most of them give warning signs first, like a misfire, a trim that creeps down, or heavy steering.
How often does a Mercury outboard need service?
Mercury calls for a 100 hour service once a year or every 100 hours, whichever comes first, and a larger 300 hour service with plugs and a water pump. In salt water, sticking to the yearly service matters even if the boat doesn’t run much.
How much does Mercury outboard repair cost?
It depends on the problem and the engine. Diagnosis comes first, then you get a quote before any repair starts. Many problems turn out to be a sensor, a coil, or a fuel issue rather than a major repair.
