When You Call, the Owner Picks Up

Every call goes straight to Ethan, the owner of EG Marine Services and the mechanic who does the work. There’s no receptionist taking a message and no waiting on a callback from someone who’s never seen your boat.

Tell him what’s going on: the alarm on the display, the noise at idle, the engine that won’t turn over. Ethan knows Yamaha, Suzuki, Mercury, and the rest of what runs in South Florida inside and out, so you’ll usually get a straight answer on the first call, whether that’s something you can check yourself or a visit to your dock.

  • Straight answers, not a script

Boat Steering Repair FAQs

Why is my boat steering hard to turn?

The most common causes are air in the hydraulic system, low fluid from a leaking cylinder seal, or a corroded steering cylinder. On power steering systems it can also be a failing pump or control module.

My steering cylinder is leaking oil. Can it be resealed?

Usually, yes. Resealing a SeaStar cylinder is one of our most common steering jobs. If the shaft is pitted or corroded, replacing the cylinder is the better fix.

Do you work on Optimus and Verado power steering?

Yes. We have replaced Optimus steering pumps and control modules and repaired Mercury Verado power steering.

Is it safe to run the boat with a steering problem?

We don't recommend it. Losing steering at speed is dangerous. Call us and we can often come to you.
